  14.                      INSTALLATION PROGRAM INFORMATION

  17. Office Supplies Tracker (OST) is provided with an installation utility, 
  18. which will not only install the program for you, but will also test your 
  19. system for the necessary hard drive space, minimum DOS version, and 
  20. necessary settings in your CONFIG.SYS file.
  21.  
  22. The program will install the OST program to your hard disk drive, and will 
  23. provide you with a default subdirectory name (\OST). We recommend that you 
  24. use this default directory name, but you are free to change it.
  25.  
  26. IMPORTANT
  27. ---------
  28. You must set the following environmental variable in your AUTOEXEC.BAT 
  29. file, or you must enter it from the command line prior to running the 
  30. program: 
  31.  
  32.     SET CLIPPER=F45
  33.  
  34. This command MUST be set in order for OST to run. The Installation utility 
  35. will automatically add the line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file if you want it 
  36. to, or you can answer NO at the install prompt and do it manually.

  38. You will also need to check the FILES and BUFFERS settings in your 
  39. CONFIG.SYS file (the install program will check this also, and give you the 
  40. opportunity to modify it you want to).  If you don't already have at least 
  41. 40 FILES and 20 BUFFERS, please change these lines accordingly:

  43.    FILES=40
  44.    BUFFERS=20
  45.  
  46. The installation program will make the necessary adjustments to your 
  47. CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT file if you allow it to.  If you don't, then 
  48. you will need to make the changes manually.

  50. You will need to reboot your system in order for these changes to take 
  51. effect.

  53. When the installation is complete, the OST program will automatically load 
  54. and configure itself.
